Wheelchair squad named for Challenge Trophy this Saturday!

Our Wheelchair team will take part in the upcoming Challenge Trophy at the University of York on Saturday.

With both the Wheelchair Challenge Cup and Challenge Trophy competitions coming up, players are unable to play in both competitions this season, so Head Coach Greg Brown as selected ten players who will appear for us in the Trophy competition on Saturday up in North Yorkshire.

Last week, a total number of 24 players represented four Sheffield Eagles Wheelchair sides in the 4’s festival in Manchester, giving the players an opportunity to come against some of the best teams in the Betfred Super League and Championship.

All four teams came up against a mixture of sides across the day in the North West, which saw us compete with the likes of Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, Halifax, London Roosters, Edinburgh Giants, Bradford Bulls, Hereford Harriers, Batley Bulldogs, Woodlands Warriors and York Knights.

Ahead of Saturday’s action, Greg Brown said “It was a good start for us last weekend and it was great to see lots of players go out and get some vital minutes.

“The 4’s festival was great and it’s what it is all about, being able to give people some brilliant opportunities and they were able to test themselves against some good Super League sides.

“We’re excited for the Challenge Trophy this Saturday, every player representing us will all embrace the day and go out there and do their all for us.

“We’ve split the squad with the cup coming up as well as the Challenge Cup, but we’re looking forward to the day and going there to give it our best shot.”

Following this weekend’s Challenge Trophy action, the attention for our Wheelchair Team will be next Sunday’s game in the Betfred Challenge Cup against Warrington Wolves.
