Sheffield Eagles Welcome Adam Milner as Player-Coach for 2027

Sheffield Eagles are delighted to announce the signing of experienced forward Adam Milner, who will join the club as player-coach ahead of the 2027 season.

The 34-year-old, who can play either at loose-forward or hooker, arrives at the Eagles following the last two seasons with Oldham, and will take on a dual role with the club in 2027 as a player and assistant coach as part of Ryan Sheridan's backroom staff.

Milner joined the Roughyeds from Huddersfield Giants in 2025, but is perhaps best known for his hugely successful 14-year spell with Castleford Tigers, making more than 300 appearances and establishing himself as a key figure during one of the most successful periods in the club's recent history.

During his time at Castleford, Milner was part of the side that finished top of the Super League table to claim the League Leaders' Shield in 2017, before reaching the Grand Final at Old Trafford. He also featured in the Tigers' 2021 Challenge Cup Final against St Helens at Wembley Stadium.

With most of his career spent competing in Super League, Milner brings a wealth of top-level experience, leadership and knowledge to Sheffield.

His arrival will also see him reunite with several familiar faces at the club. Milner will once again work alongside Eagles Head Coach Ryan Sheridan, who was part of the coaching staff during his time at Castleford, while also linking up with former Tigers teammates Greg Eden and Alex Foster.

Alongside his playing commitments, Milner will become part of Sheridan's backroom staff, adding further experience and knowledge to the Eagles' coaching setup. He joins a team that will also include new Head of Performance Jamie Bell, whose appointment was announced by the club last night.

Combining more than a decade of experience at the highest level with his recent Championship experience at Oldham, Milner's arrival represents an important addition to the Eagles as preparations continue for 2027.

Speaking on the arrival of Adam Milner, head coach Ryan Sheridan said, "Adam is another great acquisition for the Eagles and a real statement of our intentions going into the 2027 season, as soon as I was aware that Adam was available I needed to sign him.

"I know the qualities that Adam will bring to the team and our environment having worked with him at Castleford Tigers, his experience will be a real asset for us, he is a great ball playing middle, tough competitor and a leader who will drive standards, with the added benefit of him becoming an assistant coach too, I know he can’t wait to get started and make a positive impact on the Eagles."
