Sheffield Eagles to face Featherstone Lionesses at OLP

10/06/2022

This weekend, the Eagles will face Featherstone Lionesses at home in their first game at the Olympic Legacy Park, Sheffield. Kickoff is at 12.30pm on Sunday 12th June.

In a historic double header, the Women will kickstart a big day of rugby league for the Sheffield Eagles. Three weeks after their defeat against Swinton Lionesses, the Eagles will be keen to get back to winning ways.

Having both won and lost a game in the league, the Eagles are currently in the mid table. Sunday’s opposition Featherstone Lionesses are currently second to bottom, having lost both of their opening games. Nevertheless, with the league only just beginning, both teams will look to battle their way up the ladder and prove themselves in the competition.

Good luck to the following players, who will be making their debut appearances for the Eagles this week; Taylor Coates, Dawn Woodcock, Aiden Cottrell-Callbeck and Lisa Parker.

Ahead of the game, captain Pete Lendon commented: “Having scored 22 tries across three games as a team, the whole squad has proved to be strong in attack, with pace, skill and pure strength,”

“Coach Liam (Browne) has been putting us through our paces at training, really working on our defensive work and physicality in the tackle. We will work to put this into practice in this week’s game.

“The squad is really excited to be playing down at the OLP, in what will be a historic moment for the club, and I’d encourage any rugby league fans to come down for what should be an exciting game.”
