Sheffield Eagles enter Betfred Women's Challenge Cup in 2025
08/01/2025
We’re delighted to announce that our Women’s side will take part in the 2025 Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Group stage once again in 2025.
After making our debut in the competition last season, which saw us come up against York Valkyrie and Featherstone Rovers, we’ll once again complete in the group stage draw as one of four Championship sides who have been invited to take part.
We’ll join fellow Championship sides Featherstone, London Broncos and Cardiff Demons in completing the draw, alongside all eight Betfred Women’s Super League sides.
The 12 teams will be drawn into four groups of three, and as in previous years the draw will be seeded with one of last season’s top four teams – Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, York Valkyrie and St Helens, who have won each of the first two Women’s Challenge Cup Finals at Wembley in 2023 and 2024 – in each group, alongside two teams selected from the remaining eight.
The three rounds of group fixtures are scheduled to take place on the weekends of April 5/6, 12/13 and 19/20.
The winners and runners up of each group will then progress to the quarter finals on April 26/27, ahead of a semi-final double header with the Men’s competition on May 10/11.
The group stage draw will take place live next Tuesday evening (14 January, 6:30pm), with live coverage on BBC red button, iPlayer and website. This draw will take place alongside the draw for the 3rd Round of the Men’s Betfred Challenge Cup draw.
