Sheffield Eagles are delighted to announce the appointment of Jamie Bell as the club’s new Head of Performance ahead of the upcoming 2027 season.
Jamie brings a wealth of experience in rugby league, having worked within strength and conditioning at the highest level of the game, including several years in Super League as Head of Strength & Conditioning at Castleford Tigers.
He arrives at the Eagles having previously worked alongside Ryan Sheridan at Castleford and will now join Ryan’s backroom staff as preparations begin for the new campaign.
Jamie’s career in rugby league spans more than a decade, beginning in the academy system at Featherstone Rovers before gaining further experience with York Knights. In 2014, he joined Castleford Tigers, where he worked across both the first team and junior programmes, helping to develop players at various stages of their careers.
Alongside his work in professional rugby league, Jamie is also the owner of Chaos Coaching, a strength and conditioning facility based in Castleford, as well as Iron Athlete, based in the same venue.
Speaking on his new role with the Eagles, Jamie said, “I am really excited to join Sheffield this year and link back up with Shez (Ryan Sheridan), he challenges people in a way that gets them to think deeper about what they are doing. He’s a smart coach and someone I enjoy working with.
“It’s a badge that I will be proud to represent. I know and have worked with some outstanding past players, as well as a lot of the current group.
“Shez wants strong, fit players that play the game at speed with a relentless effort. My job is to help bring that vision to life.”
Head Coach Ryan Sheridan added, “Jamie is an outstanding acquisition for the Eagles, he was one of the key recruitment targets that I highlighted at the outset of me becoming head coach.
“I worked with Jamie for a number of years at Castleford Tigers, he is someone who aligns with my values and the teams’, and he’s an outstanding coach with a proven track record in developing players, so he will definitely get the best out of our group of players, along with whole coaching team.”
Everyone at Sheffield Eagles would like to welcome Jamie to the club and looks forward to having him on board as the squad prepares to return for pre-season.
