Presentation Evening 2025
20/09/2025
Over 200 people gathered at the Mercure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel last night for our 2025 Presentation Evening as players, coaches, staff, volunteers, and supporters united and came together to celebrate the achievements from 2025.
Hosted by Director of Commercial Operations, John Whaling, the night recognised all the achievements from across our five teams.
The evening started by recognising the fans and volunteers who dedicate countless amounts of their time to help make Sheffield Eagles the best it can be. Denise Turton picked up the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award, whilst John Smith collected the ‘Club Personality of the Year’ award following his work with the Women’s Gold team and The Eagles Foundation.
Before heading into the main awards, we recognised the players who are leaving us following the conclusion of the 2025 season by handing them their Heritage certificates on stage, before David Mycoe came up to the stage to collect his ‘Hall of Fame’ certificate after being induced into it last year. Supporter’s Player of the Year was also announced following the voting process by supporters, and Titus Gwaze came up to the stage to collect the award after his contributions on the field this season.
There was also a wonderful celebration of our LDRL team, who all collected their medals on stage, presented to them by men’s first-team players Jack Bussey and Martyn Reilly.
In the men’s squad, the retiring Kris Welham was named as our ‘Player of the Year’, while Titus Gwaze collected his second award of the evening as he earned the respect of his teammates, being named as the ‘Player’s Player of the Year’. Forward Blake Broadbent picked up ‘Most Improved Player’, whilst young winger Jayden Billy was recognised as the club’s ‘Shooting Star’ as this award made its return to Presentation Evening,
Our Women’s team had plenty to celebrate, too. Rachel Eastwood claimed ‘Red Player of the Year’, with Amy Dowling crowned ‘Gold Player of the Year.’ Georgia Cussons was voted ‘Player’s Player of the Year’ by her teammates, while Phoebe Evans earned ‘Most Improved’. In her first season with the Eagles, Favour Irimagha rounded off the women’s awards with the ‘Shooting Star’ trophy.
Our Wheelchair team’s achievements were also proudly recognised after they made their debut this year in the Betfred Wheelchair Super League. Chris Haynes took home both Red Player of the Year and Players’ Player, while Andy Clare was named Reserve Player of the Year. Zoe Davis was rewarded as Most Improved, with Sid Ramsey earning the Shooting Star award.
For the PDRL team, Ben Roebuck was named as the 2025 Player of the Year.
We’d like to extend a special thank you to Mercure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel for their kind hospitality and for providing the perfect setting for such a memorable event.
Congratulations to all of our award winners, and thank you to every player, coach, volunteer, and supporter for their contributions in 2025.
