Our Wheelchair side are in action tomorrow afternoon in Hull!
14/03/2025
Sheffield Eagles’ Wheelchair side will take in their first friendly fixture of 2025 when they travel to the University of Hull tomorrow afternoon to face UK Armed Forces.
The game, which will kick off at 12.45pm, will be a return to the venue which saw the Eagles crowned Championship Champions last year, in a golden point thriller against Gravesend Dynamite.
16 Eagles are available for the fixture, which will be played in three periods of 30 minutes to ensure both sides have plenty of playing time.
Debuts will be handed to Gareth and Sid Ramsey, who have transferred in the off-season from Wakefield Trinity, whilst fellow new recruit Chris Sharman will also be looking to make his first appearance for the Eagles. As well as appearing for the Eagles, Ben Wilson will also appear for the UK Armed Forces at some point in the game as a retired RAF serviceman.
“It’s a great first friendly for the club, and we’re grateful to UK Armed Forces for hosting us” commented David Butler, Eagles Foundation Chairperson.
“The Wheelchair team is stepping up to Super League this year which means we also have a mandatory reserve grade to run, however with the size of our club and not having the possibility of running a third team in the competitive structure, we are aiming to secure as many friendlies as possible to give all of our players as much game time as possible.
“It will be a first chance for some of the players to play with one another, and will give us an early opportunity to run some combinations ahead of the competitive games which start next month.”
