Match Preview | Whitehaven visit tomorrow in Challenge Cup

23/01/2026

The Eagles return to home action on Saturday afternoon for their first fixture at the Steel City Stadium in 2026, as they welcome Whitehaven R.L.F.C. in the second round of the Betfred Challenge Cup.

Craig Lingard’s side will be aiming to build on a positive start to their Betfred Championship campaign after recording an 11–4 victory over the same opponents in last week’s season opener at The Ortus Rec.

Saturday’s cup tie carries significant stakes, with the winner advancing to the third round of the competition. Awaiting the successful side will be a home clash against Betfred Super League opposition, Warrington Wolves, scheduled to take place in two weekends’ time.

For supporters unable to attend in person, the match will be broadcast live on BBC iPlayer.
