Match Preview | Halifax travel to OLP this Friday
04/07/2024
Sheffield Eagles are back in home action tomorrow evening at Olympic Legacy Park as we welcome Halifax Panthers in Round 14 of the Betfred Championship (7:30pm).
Mark Aston's men will look to make it a fourth successive victory in the league this Friday as we extended our current winning run with a 10-18 victory at York Knights last weekend.
Halifax currently sit in the bottom half of the league table, but they'll head to South Yorkshire hoping to secure another victory as they had to come from behind last weekend at home to beat Whitehaven.

Pre-match entertainment
Ahead of Friday’s game, we will be hosting our Sheffield Schools inspired by 9’s Finals. This is the third year that this has taken place, and it’s being played in memory of Ian Anniss.
Ian Anniss was a former Director of Sheffield Eagles and a Rugby League enthusiast, who did so much for Rugby League in our city. As Chairman of the Sheffield Hawks, he led the club to become one of the largest amateur Rugby League clubs in the city, whilst also advising and guiding the Eagles’ Development Programme and was instrumental in the creation of the club’s charity, what we know today as the Eagles Foundation. He offered thousands of hours of his time and experience on a voluntary and professional level to Rugby League in this city, and we are proud to remember him each year as the school’s finals take place, with trophies named in Ian’s honour.
This year’s RFL inspired by 9’s festivals have seen more schools than ever taking part, after running festivals for Y7/Y8 Girls and Y7-Y9 boys, with the following schools making this year’s finals.
Y7&8 girls - Newfield v King Edwards v Parkwood
Y7 Boys - All Saints v Newfield
Y8 Parkwood v Park
Y9 All Saints v Bradfield
