Liam Johnson makes South Yorkshire switch

Sheffield Eagles are delighted to welcome Liam Johnson back to the club from Doncaster.
The former Huddersfield Giants Academy back-rower had a stint with the Eagles back in 2017, on loan from the Super League club, before featuring for Bradford Bulls and Dewsbury Rams.
A standout season from the forward, helping Doncaster to the League 1 playoff final, put him on to the Eagles’ radar and he has put pen to paper on a two-year deal.
“I am excited to get started again under Tubbs,” said Johnson.
“When I was at Sheffield before, I really enjoyed my time there.
“The coaching staff has remained the same and they have also retained some players from last year too.
“I will be playing with some of the lads I’ve played with before or that I know of from going up against them.
“It’s an exciting time.”
Johnson is looking forward to developing his own game as he returns to the Championship after one season in the third tier.
When asked about the stability that comes with a two-season contract, he added: “Everyone has been in the same boat when it comes to injuries and COVID, so it’s important to get some consistency going,”
“Signing a two-year deal gives me a chance to develop this year, find my way into the squad and then really build on to that second year and push on from there.”
Mark Aston is thrilled to be bringing Johnson to the Eagles, adding: “He is a big boy and there is no doubt about that,”
“His lines on the edges are impressive and he scored a number of tries for Doncaster this year.
“He is a great kid and it’s all about the culture we’re trying to build. Liam will fit into that.
“He’s only 24-year-old, he’s going to get better so we’re delighted to be bringing him in on a two-year deal.
“I think he is ready to play at this level and having known and worked with him before, his attitude to his development is paramount.”
