Greg Brown appointed England Wheelchair Assistant Coach

Sheffield Eagles Wheelchair Head Coach Greg Brown has been appointed England Wheelchair's Assistant Coach for this year’s Rugby League World Cup in Australia.

Brown will join Head Coach Tom Coyd MBE and the England Wheelchair staff as the national side prepares to compete on the international stage this October.

The appointment represents another significant milestone in Brown’s coaching journey, following his central role in the development of Sheffield Eagles Wheelchair since the section was established in 2021.

Under Brown’s leadership, the Eagles have experienced rapid growth both on and off the court, with the team progressing from the Championship to Super League while establishing itself as an increasingly prominent force within Wheelchair Rugby League.

His work at Sheffield has also helped support the development of players and the wider growth of the game, making his selection for the England set-up a proud moment for everyone connected with the Eagles.

Brown has developed his coaching experience across a range of disability and performance sport environments. His background includes sitting volleyball, initially in the Netherlands before progressing to become a Great Britain Assistant Coach.

In 2024, he travelled to Christchurch, New Zealand, where he undertook an immersive coaching programme with the Crusaders Super Rugby coaching staff, gaining further experience in elite team culture, session design and performance coaching methodology.

He has also recently worked with Leicester Tigers as part of their community team, supporting age-grade coaching and player development programmes.

Brown will now take the next step in his coaching career by joining England for the World Cup in Australia.
