Glover pens one-year extension

04/09/2020

Sheffield Eagles are delighted to announce the re-signing of James Glover on a one-year deal.

The centre has been out of action since an injury at last year’s Summer Bash but he’ll be looking to make up for lost time when the 2021 season kicks off.

Glover’s form before the injury was stellar, as he created a dangerous partnership with winger Ryan Millar.

Discussing Glover’s re-signing, Mark Aston said: “I saw enough from James before he got his injury to know he’s got class and potential,”

“He is a great character and that is something which we miss within the game nowadays.

“He is honourable and wants to show the Sheffield fans he is a class act.

“I have no qualms with him coming back. It may take him a week or two to get back to where he was but he will.

“He epitomises what we want in a player.”

On his contract extension, Glover said: “I’m over the moon to be staying,”

"It was a no-brainer in my eyes.

“I got off to a good start (in 2019) and was really enjoying my time with a good set of lads.

“It was a great place to be and that’s what brought out my best rugby to date.

“It was unfortunate that it got cut short.”

Glover also commented on the conversation he had with Aston, which led to the centre being offered a new deal.

He added: “We spoke fairly early on and he said there would be no dramas in me signing on again,"

“We just needed to have a sit down and discuss where we were going to go from there really.

“I’ve got some unfinished business with everything being cut short.

“Tubbs, Keith and Ged have been helpful to me and I just wish we could get back to it now!”
