Eagles Wheelchair release fixtures for 2023
07/03/2023
Sheffield Eagles Wheelchair will go into 2023 with a renewed sense of confidence and momentum after an eye-catching pre-season thus far.
On the back of a World Cup that has taken this particular part of the sport to new heights, the Eagles have capitalised with a number of new players coming to see what all the fuss is about!
As well as more players to choose from, the squad also have a new venue to enjoy.
The English Institute of Sport, which held a number of World Cup group games and the semi-final double-header, will play host to the club on two occasions throughout 2023 with the remainder of the home ties coming at Forge Valley.
The EIS games, on the 25th March against Wigan Warriors ‘A’ and 9th July against North Wales Crusaders, will be part of double-headers with the Eagles Men.
The 9th July game will also see the Women play one of their Championship fixtures at home, however it can only be played at the same time as the Wheelchair (12:30pm). We advise watching one half at the EIS and the other at the OLP before the Men face Barrow Raiders at 3pm.

Looking ahead to the new campaign, Eagles Foundation Chair and Wheelchair squad member David Butler commented: "We’re back in the Championship again this year and it will be tough,”
“We’ve played a lot of these sides before. We’ll go in and show more of what we’re made of.
“Greg (Brown, coach) has said we may change things up a bit.
“We’ve talked about giving everyone a game so if there is a chance to get a development team/reserve grade up and running, Greg may then want to focus on some of his better players playing in the league games.
“Maybe we’ll come away with some wins and I hope to be in that team, hopefully I’ve done enough.
“I’m not selecting it for Greg, by the way!”
