Eagles sign Evan Hodgson
10/06/2021
Sheffield Eagles can announce the signing of Evan Hodgson following his release from Newcastle Thunder.
A back-row forward, Hodgson came through the ranks at Bradford Bulls before his move to Thunder.
Bolstering the Eagles’ pack, the 22-year-old cannot wait to get back into the action and help the club get back to winning ways.
“I’m very happy to make the move,” he said.
“Things didn’t work out the way I wanted at Newcastle but there’s no hard feelings with the club.
“Sheffield are a great club, with exciting plans on the horizon so I am very excited to get going.
“I haven’t played for a few weeks so it will be great to get back out there and hopefully pick up the two points.”
Explaining how the move came about, Hodgson added: “It was because of a few off-field things with work as well as training and travelling up to Newcastle,”
“Me, Craig Harrison (agent) and Denis Betts (Newcastle’s Director of Rugby) sat down and spoke about what was best for me and we all agreed it'd be best for me to leave.
“Again, I’d like to thank Thunder, my agent and the Eagles for sorting out the move very quickly."
Hodgson goes straight into the Eagles’ 21 Man Squad for Saturday’s visit to Oldham.
