Eagles re-sign Izaac Farrell

Sheffield Eagles are pleased to announce the re-signing of Izaac Farrell on a one-year deal.
Due to the season being cut short, Farrell didn’t have much time to stamp his authority on the squad but he will get a chance to do just that next year.
However, even with limited game time, he did provide a match-winning contribution against former club Batley - kicking a drop goal in golden point extra time.
Mark Aston is looking forward to seeing Farrell back in Red and Gold during 2021. He said: “Izaac has had a tough time with a few knock backs,”
“He has come through it and he’s still young. Half-backs tend to find their feet a little later from my experience.
“He has come from good stock, his Dad (Anthony Farrell) obviously played with us, and Joel is with us as well.
“He’s shown me enough despite coming into the club with a bit more weight than I wanted.
“We had a tough conversation, I told him where I needed him to be and straight away he got down to business.
“He’s not the finished article but who is? If we get it right, he’ll be around us for a good few years.”
Farrell is pleased to have another year, at least, in the Steel City, saying: “I had a few games last season and the environment around the club was really good, especially after coming out of a full-time team (Huddersfield),”
“The lads made me feel really welcome as soon as I got here.
“That certainly helped me get to grips with things quicker.
“When he (Aston) said he wanted me to stay around for another season, I was more than happy with that decision.
“I took quite a bit away from last year with Tubbs and Thacks giving me advice, and I’m looking forward to getting back in for pre-season as it’s a good place for me to be.”
