Eagles join Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry

16/02/2021

Mark Hannigan has given his thoughts on Sheffield Eagles’ new partnership with the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Eagles already have a strong bond with the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce who feature on the home and away kits, and now the club will be looking to forge similar ties with the city’s Chamber.

Hannigan is delighted the Eagles have an exciting new partnership with an organisation that can assist in growing the club off the field.

“It is great that we now have this tie with the Sheffield Chamber and it’s even better that they have seen the benefit of getting involved with us as well,” said the club's Commercial Manager.

“The mentality of joining Sheffield Chamber is to engage with the business community in the city and extend on the work we have done with Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber.

“The best way to get that engagement with businesses in any city or any region is through the local Chamber of Commerce in my opinion.

“With the new stadium on the horizon and a World Cup, we’ve not just joined the Chamber with a basic membership - we have joined as one of their premium partners so we are at a high level so can have engagement with some of their senior members.”

Alexis Krachai, Interim Executive Director at Sheffield Chamber, added: “We are delighted to welcome Sheffield Eagles as members of Sheffield Chamber,”

“The link between our city’s sporting clubs and businesses goes back over a century.

"As Sheffield gets ready to welcome the Rugby League World Cup to the city, 2021 provides a brilliant opportunity to forge new links between one of our more important teams and the wider business community”.

Hannigan also praised the current partnership with Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber, an organisation that have been integral to the club from a commercial standpoint.

“The partnership with the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce has helped us with introduction to sponsors at networking events,” he added.

“Those sponsors are with us on all levels and the introductions they have made has helped to bring match and player sponsorships, all the way up to companies that still feature on our kits to this day.

“It has been beneficial for both parties as I believe we have introduced people to them who are now members of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber, and we’ll be hoping to do the same for Sheffield too.”

Andrew Denniff, CEO of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, commented: “We are delighted to hear the Eagles are expanding their engagement with the wider business community and the Chamber of Commerce network,”

“More than ever it is so important that we are able to support each other and through the partnership the opportunity will bring more businesses into direct contact with Rugby League in a World Cup year, which has to be a huge benefit to all concerned ”
