Eagles beaten by battling Broncos

Sheffield Eagles’ inconsistent form continued as fellow playoff chasers London Broncos triumphed 18-26.
The Eagles were fortunate to be more than eight points down at half-time as the Broncos dominated possession and territory but only had two tries to show from it, courtesy of Jarred Bassett and Alex Walker.
London bombed many clear-cut chances in the first period while the Eagles hardly threatened the opposition try-line.

However, the second half proved a different story as two quick-fire tries put Sheffield in front in the early going.
Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e and James Glover both got over the line, with Cory Aston converting, as the Eagles went 12-8 ahead.
However, back-to-back tries from Dean Parata and Walker put London back in the driving seat inside the final quarter.
Glover completed his brace, Aston converting again, as Sheffield reduced the arrears to a couple of points.
But the spoils went to London as Iliess Macani touched down in the final minute, Corey Norman’s conversion extending the buffer to two scores.
