In the first Commercial Corner of 2023, Sheffield Eagles Operations Director Mark Hannigan discusses the latest off-field activities as the club looks ahead to a number of exciting events.

Corporate Hospitality

“With upstairs now open at the stadium, we’re starting to get sponsorship packages filled up for those that are wanting match day corporate hospitality,”

“We’re receiving great feedback from those in attendance regarding the food and drink as well as the overall match day experience.

“Andy Tyers hosts the lounge, he injects his own style of humour. He knows the club inside out, being Heritage Number #001, he’s the man to do that and we’ve got Tubbs and the players going in there pre and post-match.

“We also have the Man of the Match presentation up there too.

“We’ve never had proper corporate hospitality for as long as I’ve been here, up until now. The size of the room isn’t what we expected or envisaged but it is what it is.

“We’re looking at options to extend it and we want the demand to be there, to sell it out every game. We’re getting there with it now.

Match Day Promotion

“Promotion around the games, we’ve got DSM as our big match sponsor vs Swinton and Happier Digital as our programme sponsor.

“We can get commercial brochures out to different companies if they want to know the full ins and outs.

“As a big match sponsor, you get ten tickets, corporate dining, parking, programme and a signed shirt.

“We have various options as you come down the packages for different numbers of people.

“You get a great social media presence through our channels as well as becoming a partner for the day, which we really do appreciate.”

Events

“It’s the first time since I’ve been here that they’re under full club control, of course we lost two years due to the pandemic,” 

“We’re really trying to ramp them up a level and we have a really special guest lined up for our next Luncheon at the OEC, with details on that to come soon.

“We’ll have a Christmas party as usual but with all the other events, Tasha is doing a great job with the Golf Days and other events.

Challenge Cup Dinner

“The Challenge Cup Dinner is coming up on 2nd May at the OEC. That is going really well and it’d be wrong not to mark 25 years since that remarkable underdog achievement. Tubbs, Keith, Paul and the rest of the lads will be there for a brilliant night.

“This event has been in the calendar for a number of years, 20 years we had the shirt that we released so for 25 - it’s right to host a dinner.”

Golf Day and Other Events

“Wortley are fantastic with us, it’s a great and challenging course,”

“They help us put on a really good day.

“We try to offer a variety of events and there is more to come.

“We want everyone to have something they can do away from a match day and we’re looking at different events at different venues.

Kit Sponsorship Opportunities

“We are now looking at our 2024 kits and sponsorship on it,”

“Patches will become available for one reason or another.

“We are seeking expressions of interest and we’ll show interested companies what we can do for their brand in getting exposure to the wider city and rugby league community as a whole.

“We have had companies that have been on board since 2018 and they’re still on there.

“We try to keep everyone happy and give them the space they want.

“We haven’t had a big overhaul for such a long period of time, which shows the loyalty of those companies but also what we can provide is second to none.

“It’s huge we’re back in Sheffield because the days of doing one-year-deals because we don’t know where we’ll be next are over.

“We can put multi-year plans in place and show real value in your investment of the Sheffield Eagles."
