Brown extends Eagles stay

07/09/2020

Aaron Brown will be an Eagle in 2021 as he has extended his stay in South Yorkshire for another season.

The loose forward has signed a one-year deal and will be aiming for another successful campaign in Red and Gold.

Already in Eagles folklore due to the hat-trick he scored in the 1895 Cup Final against Widnes, Brown will be keen to make more memories with the Steel City side.

Mark Aston is delighted to keep the former Dewsbury man on board, saying: “He is another great kid with bags of ability,”

“We have seen some good stuff from him but there’s more to come from him, 100 percent.

“I have played him in the centres, half-back, hooker and of course at 13 but his utility and how he adapts to it is brilliant.

“His debut season, scoring a hat-trick at Wembley, will take some beating but I think we’ll see more.”

Brown was delighted to put pen to paper with the club once again.

He said: “I am really pleased to be coming back for another year,”

“With what has happened due to COVID this year, and not getting a proper dig, it’ll be nice to get back at it with them.

“I couldn’t have expected 2019 to have gone any better really. It was definitely a surreal year and the boys dug in.

“It was a year to remember for us all at the club.”

Ahead of the new campaign, Brown says that the team needs to get off to a good start which is something they didn’t do in the early part of 2020.

“We need to hit the ground running,” he added.

“A lot of the lads will know each other and how we play.

“We know our strengths and weaknesses. We need to get back in there and get a good pre-season into ourselves.”
