April is Autism Awareness Month, and across the next two weeks, we are continuing to share stories from players and staff across our teams who live with autism, highlighting their experiences and how Sheffield Eagles support them.
Today, we hear from Chloe Bingley, who is a player for our LDRL team.
“It’s mad” says Chloe, of her involvement with the Sheffield Eagles LDRL squad.”
“I came to watch my mum and got talked into it. My sister, Loki, joined a little later. I enjoy it. I’ve made friends; Mandy, Adam, Georgie, and I’ve been friends with Ben since nursery. We went to the same schools, and then Longley Park Sixth Form.”
Chloe has worked at Matalan for the last four-and-a-half years and is also a volunteer with the British Heart Foundation.
“Mark Ward is our coach. He’s very enthusiastic. All the coaches; Dean, Adam, Dom, Stuart, and Matt, are all great. The whole session is great, learning how to improve skills, and we talk to the players at the Captain’s Run. I chose the captain, Joel Farrell, to present me with my 2026 shirt.”
Chloe hadn’t played Rugby before she joined the LDRL team.
“We do it for fun. Magic Weekend is just amazing. We take part in a mini-Festival, then go to the stadium to play a half-time match. Doing it in front of that big a crowd, it’s mental.”
