Following uncertainty over their participation in 2026, the newly formed Salford R.L.F.C. will compete in the Betfred Championship this year after a recent takeover by Mason Caton-Brown. Ryan Brierley has returned to the club, stepping into the role of CEO, while wholesale changes have been made to the playing squad as they prepare for their season opener against Oldham R.L.F.C. this evening.
2026 will mark a new chapter for Salford, after the former Red Devils played in the Betfred Super League last season. With Head Coach Mike Grady at the helm and a refreshed squad of players, the club can now focus on the upcoming Championship campaign.

2026 Recruitment
A total of 26 players have signed for the club this week, all recruited by Mike Grady, who returns to Salford after previously managing their Women’s team between 2023 and 2024. Several former Red Devils Reserve and Academy players have committed to the newly formed Salford squad, while former first-team players Charlie Glover and Sam Hill have also rejoined the CorpAcq Stadium ahead of the new season.
One to Watch
Brad Dwyer will be the headline player for Salford in 2026. The 33-year-old, who has played for Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, and Leigh Leopards in previous years, returns to the CorpAcq Stadium after a single appearance for the Red Devils last season, scoring after coming off the bench in an 80-6 defeat at Hull FC.
With over 225 Betfred Super League appearances to his name since his debut for Warrington in a 32-30 victory over Wakefield in 2012, Dwyer brings the experience Salford will need to kickstart their Championship campaign.
