Women's Squad named for York Valkyrie

Sheffield Eagles Women’s Red team finally start the new season this weekend when we take on York Valkyrie in the opening game of the Women’s Betfred Challenge Cup Group Stage on Sunday afternoon at Olympic Legacy Park (2pm kick-off).

Acting as the latter part of a Rugby League double-header on Sunday at OLP, as Sheffield Hawks take on Sheffield Forgers in a curtain raiser game (kicking off at 12pm), it will be the first time that the Eagles take to the field in 2024, having had their two most recent league games against Hull KR and Castleford Tigers postponed due to waterlogged pitches in recent weeks.

In what will be a tough test for Liam Browne’s side, we take on last season's Women’s Betfred Super League winners York Valkyrie, who will be wanting to get off to a good start ahead of the new league season.

The likes of Tara-Jane Stanley, Sinead Peach and Liv Gale could all feature for the Valkyrie, so get yourselves down to Olympic Legacy Park on Sunday afternoon and support the Eagles in our first-ever Women’s Challenge Cup appearance.

Tickets are priced at £5 Adults and £1 for U16’s, with admission only being accepted on the day of the game. Turnstiles open at 11:30am.
