Sheffield Forgers become Ambassador Club

09/05/2024

We're pleased to announce our latest Ambassador Club, Sheffield Forgers RFLC

The Forgers played their first game in 2006 in the Midlands Merit League, with the club emerging from a Sheffield Eagles supporters team known as the Sheffield Beagles which began playing in 2004. The club grew quickly and in 2007 entered the Rugby League Conference in the summer and competed in the Pennine League in the winter, also running a lively junior section. Sadly the club folded in early 2009 due to a lack of players and committee members moving on.

A group of ex-players brought the club back to life, with the Forgers entering the Yorkshire Men’s League in 2018, and since their hiatus have been trying to re-establish themselves as a constant fixture within the South Yorkshire Rugby League community.

Following their reformation, Sheffield Forgers have spent their years in the Yorkshire Men’s League, steadily building their reputation and honing their skills. In 2021, the club expanded its horizons, introducing a junior section with one age group. This year, they have further expanded their junior section, demonstrating their commitment to nurturing young talent.

At Sheffield Forgers, they are dedicated to providing opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels. Their open-age team trains at Mosborough Miners Welfare every Wednesday, starting at 19:30. Meanwhile, their juniors train at Handsworth recreational ground every Saturday at 10:00.

Sheffield Forgers are always open to volunteers and new players getting involved. Whether you're an experienced player looking for a new challenge, or someone who wants to support their local club, Sheffield Forgers welcomes you with open arms.
