Sheffield Eagles Supporters Association present club with SquadBuilder Cheque

Sheffield Eagles Supporters Association (SESA) have today presented the club with a cheque for £3,000.

SESA, reformed in late 2019 after a number of years of being dormant have launched a number of initiatives in the past two years in the face of huge adversity including Covid-19 and the Eagles having to play outside of the city.

Initiatives have included an online vote for the man of the match award after every game during the 2021 season.

The results of all these votes was then counted to confirm the SESA Player of the Year at the End of Season Awards.

However, the main contribution to the funds the club will receive are from the SquadBuilder which was launched to support the club financially, directly contributing to the costs of the squad and supporting the signing of new players.

Speaking of the donation, Steve Dalton (pictured), Chair of SESA said; ‘It’s fantastic we have been able to support the club with this donation – it’s a testament to the support we have had for SquadBuilder so far.

“Myself, Richard (King) and Liz (Elfleet) as the SESA committee hope to be able to continue grow SESA in the coming weeks and months and with the club returning to the city and the fantastic facility at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park we finally have a base and a home to build from.”

“I’m sure many Eagles supporters like myself are excited about the developments happing on and off the field at the Eagles and we are confident this donation will go a long way to supporting the club.

Eagles General Manager, Liam Claffey, who received the cheque on behalf of the club added, “We are hugely grateful for this fantastic donation from SESA.”

“They reformed towards the end of 2019 and then Covid hit followed by a season outside of the city so for them to be able to raise and donate such a figure despite those difficulties is fantastic.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has so far donated, and continues to donate, to the SquadBuilder it really does assist the club and would encourage anyone, who hasn’t already done so and can afford to, please sign up.

SESA will be holding a Fans Fourm on Thursday 02 December at The Hillsborough Club (27 Bradfield Rd, Hillsborough, Sheffield S6 2BS) with key members of players and staff from the club attending.

Tickets to the event are just £1.00 (plus 50p booking fee) with funds raised by SESA going towards helping put on future events in 2022.
