Sheffield 10k for £10k - Update 4
18/07/2023
This week brings us the fourth update on the Eagles Foundation’s 10k for £10k fundraising campaign, linked to the Sheffield 10k which takes place on Sunday 24th September!
The Foundation is aiming to raise £10,000 to support its work, building on the successes to date, which includes running our Learning Disability, Women’s and Wheelchair Rugby League sides, supports our Touch and Walking Rugby sessions and helps us to reach 1000s of young people in Sheffield each year, with our most recent achievement being the launch of our Physical Disability Rugby League team.
Our page to receive donations is now open: £10k for 10k 2023 - JustGiving – please help us spread the word and of course donate where you can!
We’re aiming to get at least 20 people running and will provide everyone with a running top for the day. For those wanting to sign up, they need to visit https://www.runforall.com/events/10k/sheffield-10k/ and then email us at enquiries@eaglesfoundation.co.uk with your name and contact details so we know you’re registered!
This week a trio of runners from our main club sponsors Evogo have joined the cause! Jen Chappell, Lewis Fox and Carrie Rowlandson will be challenging themselves to the Sheffield 10k, bringing the number of runners up to 16!
“Since working with the Eagles Foundation it is clear the work they do provides great opportunities to so many” said Jen Chappell. “It will be great to help raise funds for a fantastic organisation, whilst challenging myself. I am by no means a runner, a few Parkrun’s and a half marathon in 2015 but since then I only run to the pub!”
Carrie Rowlandson agrees with the good cause; “Since becoming involved with Sheffield Eagles a few years ago, I have seen the fantastic work that the Foundation does for the community, it’s a great opportunity to raise both awareness of the Foundation and hopefully lots of funds too!
"On a personal note, I have recently found my love of running again, the last 10k I did was in 2012 (pre children) so this will be a huge challenge, but one I’ve already started to train for and really looking forward to!”
They join the list of those runners previously profiled:
Andrea Dobson (Foundation Development Officer)
Richard King (Foundation Heritage Officer)
Jack Pemberton (Foundation Disability Inclusion Officer)
David Butler (Foundation Trustee)
Capucine Auger (Women’s Player)
Beth Arnold (Women’s Player)
Liam Brown (Women’s Head Coach)
Dan Burt (Women’s Assistant Coach)
Karen Forman (Wheelchair Player Jack Johnson’s Mum)
Kate Williams (Foundation Schools Coach)
Harry Welburn (Eagles Fan)
Jack Levine (Eagles Director)
George Thompson (Eagles Fan)
We have few more runners to unveil, including a very special member of the Eagles family, more next week!
