The Eagles welcome Widnes Vikings to the MEPS International Home of Football Stadium this Thursday, 27th August, for our final game of the regular Betfred Championship season (7:30pm KO).
Following Sunday’s narrow defeat against Doncaster, Craig Lingard’s side are guaranteed to finish the league campaign in seventh place, regardless of Thursday’s result. Despite that, the Eagles will be looking to bounce back in front of our home supporters and finish the regular season on a high, building valuable momentum ahead of the upcoming playoffs.
The Eagles will host either Whitehaven or Batley Bulldogs in the Playoff Eliminator the following week. Our opponents will be confirmed on Sunday, once both sides have played their final league fixtures.
Widnes secured their place in the top six on Sunday with a convincing 40-12 victory over Workington Town. However, with their final league position still to be decided, there is plenty at stake for Alan Coleman’s side on Thursday evening.
A victory could boost Widnes’ hopes of securing a top-four finish, although they will still need results elsewhere to go their way. Should they finish outside the top four, the Vikings are set to travel to either Oldham or Doncaster in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Eagles were narrowly beaten when the sides met earlier this season at the DCBL Stadium. A Ryan Millar brace helped Sheffield establish a half-time lead, but Widnes fought back after the break to secure a 16-12 victory.
With both sides heading into the playoffs, Thursday’s clash promises to be an entertaining final test of the regular season.

COACH & HORSES PUB
We have an on-site pub located just outside the stadium, welcoming both home and away supporters, the perfect place to enjoy the pre-match atmosphere.
The Coach and Horses opens well ahead of kick off and remains open after the final whistle, making it ideal for both pre-match and post-match drinks.

* Please note that we have an open seating plan in place at the stadium. People will have the option to be able to sit down anywhere or stand up.

TURNSTILES
Turnstiles will open at 5:30pm. Supporters are encouraged to arrive early to facilitate a smooth entry into the stadium and avoid any delays.
PARKING / DISABLED PARKING INFORMATION.
Parking is available on-site at the MEPS International Home of Football Stadium on a first-come, first-served basis (£5). Please note that card payments only are accepted for parking.
A limited number of designated accessible parking spaces are also available on-site, subject to availability. To request an accessible parking space, please email Mark.Hannigan@sheffieldeagles.com.
Please note: All accessible parking requests must be pre-booked no later than 48 hours before a home fixture.
Please note that the car park closes exactly an hour after the final whistle, so if you’re staying at the Coach & Horses for a drink after the game, you may have to make alternative parking arrangements.
CONCESSIONS
Supporters will be able to enjoy a wide range of food and drink from the stadium's concession stands throughout the evening.
Hot food options include sausage rolls (£3.50), burgers (£3.50), cheeseburgers (£4.00), cheeseburger & chips (£7.00), and chips (£3.50).
The drinks menu features San Miguel, Guinness, Guinness 0.0 and Thatchers (all £5.00), alongside Holsten Pils (£4.00). Non-alcoholic options include cans of soft drinks and a selection of hot beverages (both £2.50).
A variety of confectionery will also be available, including Pringles (£2.50) and chocolate bars (£2.00).

PRE-MATCH ACTIVITY
Ahead of Thursday’s game, we’ll welcome Sheffield Hawks U14 Girls and Oulton Raidettes U14 Girls, who will face each other in a curtain-raiser at the MEPS International Home of Football Stadium.
Kick-off is at 5:45pm, so get down to the ground early and support the girls if you can!
MATCH REFEREE
Thursday’s match will be officiated by Kevin Moore.
Moore has refereed the Eagles on four occasions in 2026, overseeing our opening-day victory against Whitehaven, our 44-20 win at Rochdale, our 38-26 home victory over Salford, and our 38-12 win against Workington Town.
Thursday’s game will be the first time Moore has officiated a Widnes Vikings fixture this season.
