It’s the Eagles’ final away game of the regular Betfred Championship season this Sunday, as Craig Lingard’s side make the short trip to face Doncaster at Club Doncaster Sports Village (3pm KO).

The Eagles returned to winning ways at the weekend, holding on for a hard-fought victory over Hunslet to secure two valuable points.

With a top-seven finish already guaranteed, the Eagles remain in contention for a place in the top six. However, a climb up the table will require victories in both of our remaining games, alongside results elsewhere going our way over the next two weeks.

Sunday’s clash will be the second South Yorkshire derby of the season, with Doncaster also having plenty to play for as they look to strengthen their bid for a top-four finish.

The hosts come into the game in strong form after a demanding three-game week, securing a maximum six points with victories over Midlands Hurricanes and North Wales Crusaders, as well as edging out Barrow 26-25 away from home last Wednesday.

With plenty still at stake for both sides, Sunday promises to be another important clash in the Betfred Championship.

MATCH REFEREE

This weekend’s fixture will be officiated by James Vella, who has established himself as a regular referee in the Betfred Super League this season.

Vella most recently took charge of Castleford’s 18-14 victory over Hull FC last Friday.

He has also officiated both Doncaster and Sheffield in the Championship this season, refereeing Doncaster’s 28-12 win over Widnes in Round 7 before taking charge of our rearranged trip to Halifax in May.
