Match Preview | Wigan Warriors (H) - Betfred Challenge Cup R3

04/02/2025

Sheffield Eagles are set to take on reigning World Club Champions Wigan Warriors in the Third Round of the Betfred Challenge Cup on Friday, 7th February, at 7:30 PM. The highly anticipated fixture will take place at Olympic Legacy Park, as both sides vie for a place in the Fourth-Round draw.

This encounter revives memories of the historic 1998 Challenge Cup Final, where the Eagles famously triumphed over Wigan in one of the competition’s most memorable upsets.

The Eagles approach this fixture in strong form, having recorded consecutive victories against Doncaster and West Bowling in recent weeks. With preparations well underway for the forthcoming Betfred Championship campaign, the Eagles will be eager to test themselves against the reigning World Champions.

Wigan Warriors, meanwhile, return to competitive action following a warm-weather training camp. This match serves as their first competitive outing of 2025 ahead of their Betfred Super League opener against Leigh Leopards next week.
