Kyle Wood announces retirement from Rugby League
27/11/2024
Kyle Wood has announced his retirement from Rugby League following the conclusion of the 2024 Betfred Championship season.
The hooker returned to the Eagles for a third spell at the end of last year, and he went on to make 24 appearances and score 3 tries in all competitions during 2024 for the club.
Wood originally joined the club from Doncaster for his first spell back in 2009, before he returned to the Eagles for a brief loan spell during the 2011 season.
Before he returned to the club for a third time, Wood became a regular feature in a number of Betfred Super League sides, which saw him make a total of 218 appearances in the top flight.
After a playing career which has spanned across 17 seasons, Wood has also appeared for the likes of Halifax Panthers, Batley Bulldogs, Castleford Tigers, Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Trinity during his time as a player.
Over the course of three spells with the Sheffield Eagles, he's gone on to make a total number of 60 appearances, scoring 13 tries for the club.
We’d like to thank Kyle for his services to Sheffield Eagles, and we’d like to wish him all the best with his future endeavours.
