Sheffield Eagles are delighted to announce the signing of York Knights winger Joe Brown on a two-year deal.
The 26-year-old will link up with the club from the start of next season as he makes South Yorkshire his new home after spending the last four years with York.
During that time, he has scored 56 tries in 110 appearances for the Knights, with 7 of those coming in 17 appearances this season for Mark Applegarth’s side.
Last season, he went one better as he achieved his highest scoring season to date, as he crossed for 19 tries in 32 appearances.
Prior to his spell with York, the wide man has also spent time with the likes of Wigan Warriors, Bradford Bulls and Swinton Lions in recent years.
Speaking on signing for the Eagles, Brown said, “I’m really excited to be joining. As soon as I spoke to Linners (Craig Lingard), he got me excited, and I can’t wait to be back enjoying my rugby again.
“I’ve got lots of happy memories from my time at York, but I feel now is the right time to try something different. I’m ready for a new challenge, and this one I’m really looking forward to.”
Brown becomes Craig Lingard’s first signing ahead of the new season, with more new additions expected to be announced over the coming weeks.
Speaking on his new signing, the Eagles Head Coach said, “Browny is a top-quality Championship winger who came through strong youth set-ups at Wigan Warriors and Bradford Bulls.
“He’s a proven try scorer in this league, a big physical presence, and he’ll give us real natural strike and aerial ability on our edge over the next two seasons.”
