Halafihi signs one-year contract

Sheffield Eagles hooker Vila Halafihi has signed a new one-year deal with the club.
Halafihi, who followed in the footsteps of his father Nick by donning the Red and Gold, has made 53 appearances in two seasons since signing from Hunslet ahead of the 2022 season.
Also capable of playing at loose forward, the vast majority of Halafihi’s game-time has come at the number nine spot - with 80-minute performances not out of the ordinary.
Discussing Halafihi staying on board, Director of Rugby Mark Aston commented: “Vila has been great for us so far, so it was a no-brainer to ask him to stay,”
“The club means a lot to him and his family, you can see that on the pitch as he is one of the most tenacious players we’ve had in recent seasons.
“He will only get better as he came back into the Championship with us just a couple of seasons ago.
“He’s more than up to speed with the pace of the game but now he is becoming a regular in the division, we can expect his levels to rise once more.”
