Frankie Townend joins our Women's team

Sheffield Eagles are delighted to announce that half-back Frankie Townend will join the club’s Women’s team for the 2026 season from Betfred Super League side Huddersfield Giants.

Townend makes the move to South Yorkshire after spending the past four seasons with the Giants and becomes the second new addition to the Women’s squad for 2026 following the return of Lisa Parker, who has re-joined the club from fellow Super League side York Valkyrie.

Speaking on her move to Sheffield, Townend said: “I’m excited to be joining Sheffield and helping the team compete next season. I’ve spoken to some of the girls already and they’ve talked about the positive environment around the club and how close-knit the group is.

“Andrea approached me and we had a good conversation about where the club wants to go. With the experience I have in the halves, I’m hoping I can add something to the team and help push for a strong position in the league next season.”
