Evan Hodgson - an Eagle till 2024
Sheffield Eagles are delighted to announce a one-year extension to Evan Hodgson’s contract, which will see him stay at the Olympic Legacy Park until the end of 2024.
A consistently brilliant performer in Red and Gold, Hodgson has made a great impact on the pack since signing from Newcastle Thunder.
The former Bradford Bull will be looking to push on going into the new season as the Eagles eye a spot in the Championship playoffs.
“I’m made up to be staying at the club,” he said.
“I love working with this group of lads and under the coaches, Sheffield definitely feels like home to me now!
“To me it certainly felt like I kicked on this year.
“I’ve loved it, this year has been special and although we didn’t finish where we wanted, we’ve created an environment where everyone is best mates and obviously being back at the OLP has been brilliant!
“There won’t be no ifs or buts next year or flying under the radar next year.
“I think even the favourites in the league next year will know we can turn them over.
“It’s massively exciting but for me anything other than a playoff spot won’t do!”
Director of Rugby Mark Aston is just as happy to see Hodgson staying in the Steel City, adding: “Evan gives it 100% every time he steps on to the pitch and that’s what we expect from everyone wearing the Eagles shirt,”
“He is underrated amongst the chat about the best forwards in the league. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
“Every pack needs an Evan Hodgson. He does the hard yards from deep in our own end, he puts his body where it needs to go.
“He is someone we want to have around the club for a long time and it’s brilliant to have him here for a few more years.”
