Eagles Wheelchair gunning for 3rd in Championship
31/08/2023
Sheffield Eagles Wheelchair team go into their final game of the Championship season away at Wigan Warriors A on Saturday 2nd September in search of sealing third place in the Championship. The game takes place at Preston College, PR2 8UR with kick off slated for 13.30. Entry is free to all.
A win, draw or loss by a margin of 29 points or less is needed to secure 3rd, but a loss of 30 or more would see the Eagles slip to 4th and Bradford Bulls leapfrog them with a superior points difference.
A third placed finish would see the Eagles return to Wigan in the play-offs, whilst a fourth pace would see the Eagles travel for a third time to North Wales to meet the table topping Crusaders.
Greg Brown’s team have recovered from their RFL Challenge Trophy Final appearance at the EIS in Sheffield and despite the loss in the final are in a buoyant mood and looking to end the season on a positive.
Emma Pearson returns to first team action after returning from injury in the A team’s loss to York two weeks ago, as does Stacey Roulson, but David Butler is unavailable for the fixture and Lottie Davis-Browne misses out as Brown rotates his squad after their previous outing.
Meanwhile, the Eagles A team have been awarded a 24-0 over Wakefield Trinity who are unable to travel to Sheffield on Sunday for the final North League fixture of the year.
Sheffield Eagles to face Wigan Warriors A: Jack Johnson, Chris Haynes, Joe Wink-Simmonds, Emma Pearson, Stacey Roulson, Ben Simpson, Stephen Reilly, April Brooks, Vicky Brooks, Will Brooks.
