Eagles to face Illingworth in Women's League 1 Playoff Final

01/10/2022

Kicking off at 12.45pm, Sunday 2nd October, Odsal Stadium, Bradford

Following on from the Eagles huge 84-16 semi-final win against Halifax Panthers, the Eagles are to face Illingworth in the Women's League 1 playoff final.

In their first meeting back in June, the Eagles travelled to Illingworth and faced one of their toughest games of the season. In a game of true grit and determination, the Eagles maximised their strong forward pack to narrowly come out on top by just 4 points.

However in their second meeting at Mosborough in September you could see the progress the Eagles have made over the season. In a strong team effort the Eagles won 30-6 and dominated throughout.

However Illingworth are a well established force in Rugby League and one not to be undermined. Having finished 3rd in the league they faced 2nd place Swinton Lionesses in the semi final. Noteworthy Swinton are the only team to have beaten the Eagles this year. Illingworth went into the semifinal strong, playing a physical game, to take home a 0-20 win and a spot in the playoff final.

The Eagles look to enter the game with level heads, prepared for a physical and mental game. One in which to showcase their progression and success this season. Ahead of the game, Head Coach Liam Browne comments:

“We're excited for the final. Illingworth are a good, very physical side, with a lot of talent. It will definitely be a tough, closely matched game.”

“But if we can execute like we did against Halifax, we've got a very strong chance.”
