Dickinson on board with three-year extension
05/10/2022
Sheffield Eagles are pleased to be keeping Tyler Dickinson at the club for another three seasons after the prop forward signed a new deal.
Dickinson scooped the Player of the Year award in 2021 and Players’ Player of the Year gong in 2022, typifying how well the former Huddersfield prop has been playing in the Red and Gold.
Not just a fans favourite, Dickinson is highly respected by his peers and Director of Rugby Mark Aston is very happy to be keeping the front-rower in the Steel City.
“Tyler is a class act, there’s no two ways about it,” he said.
“When he’s on the pitch, we’re in safe hands as he commands the forward pack and that has improved even more during his time with the Leadership Group.
“We wanted to keep him here for an extended period of time because we know what he’s capable of.
“He’s shown it already and there is still more to come from Tyler Dickinson.”
Discussing the deal, Dickinson said: “I am buzzing to be here, myself and Tubbs have a good relationship,”
“He gets the best out of me so I didn’t see a reason not to sign long-term and commit my future to Sheffield.
“We’re not changing the squad for next year and that is also a big part of me staying as I know the lads and enjoy being around them.
“It’s going to stand us in good stead. If he adds a bit more quality in certain areas, hopefully it’s going to be a good season for us.”
