Day to Remember for Eagles Foundation

Saturday July 15th will certainly go down in history as a day to remember for the Eagles Foundation, whose Learning Disability and Wheelchair Rugby League teams were in action.

The LDRL side, who are now Festival regulars following their appearances at consecutive Magic Weekends and a trip to Castleford, travelled to the University of Hull for yet another brilliant experience amongst fellow Foundations.

Men’s first team player Kris Welham also lent his support to the LDRL team, having a picture with Hayden Holding.

On the court, the Eagles’ Wheelchair outfit - coached by Greg Brown - got off to a slow start with a draw and two losses from their opening three matches.

However, four consecutive victories was enough to finish second in the Round Robin table and book their place in the Challenge Trophy Final against Gravesend Dynamite at the EIS on 20th August.

From not winning a game in their debut season to reaching a cup final, it’s a meteoric rise for the Wheelchair side who are part of a sport that is growing at a massive rate.
