Club Statement: Liam Claffey

13/01/2022

The Sheffield Eagles Board of Directors can announce that Liam Claffey has resigned from his role as General Manager and will be leaving the club.

Liam has worked with the Eagles since 2015 and has been instrumental in both ensuring we continued during the nomadic years and being an integral part of our return to the city and our now home at the Community Stadium at The Olympic Legacy Park.

Eagles Chairman Chris Noble commented: “The club will be indebted to the work that Liam has done during his time with us,”

“We wish him all the best for his future endeavours and hope to see him at an Eagles game this season at our new home”

Liam commented: “It’s been an eventful six and a half years at GM at Sheffield Eagles but the time is right now that I look to new horizons in my career,”

“From helping the club return to the city with today’s earlier announcement on the agreement at the Community Stadium, to being part of the staff at Wembley for the 1895 Cup Final victory, it’s certainly been a time in my life I’ll never forget.

“I’d like to thank all the players, staff, sponsors, supporters and volunteers who I’ve worked with over the years for their support during my tenure.

“In particular, thank you to the Board of Directors for their understanding and support with this decision and for their tutelage over the past six and a half years.

“The fantastic work being done by the club & the Foundation means that rugby league in Sheffield has a bright future and I look forward to seeing the sport go from strength to strength in the Steel City.”

The Board of Directors would like to place our sincere thanks on record to Liam and wish him all the best.
