Club Statement: 2020 Memberships
31/07/2020
Following confirmation that Sheffield Eagles will not take part in the autumn competition due to take place later this year, we wish to update our supporters on the club’s position in relation to 2020 memberships.
Whilst times have been difficult for the club and the sport of rugby league, we fully understand that these struggles are not limited to just us and times are tough for many people.
We would like to thank those supporters who have already contacted the club to state they do not wish to have their 2020 membership refund.
It’s a kind, generous offer that does greatly assist us in moving forward to 2021 as healthy a position as possible.
Again, we appreciate not all will be able to do this with times being difficult and so we are providing the following three options for 2020 members to take:
Option 1 – Full refund* (payable over 3 monthly instalments)
Option 2 – Credit against membership (season ticket) for the next three years**
Option 3 – No refund or credit requested, writing to state you are donating your refund back to the club
In return for taking option 3, to thank supporters for their generosity we would offer them the following:
• A price freeze on season tickets for the next 2 years
• 25 Junior Tickets donated on their behalf to a school, charity, youth club etc. of their choice for a 2021 match.
• Heavily discounted entry to an event to take place later this year / early 2021 (subject to confirmation)
• Acknowledgement in a 2021 match day programme
Deadline for members to take up any of the three options is Wednesday 12 August 2020.
If taking option 3 we ask that you email the club at info@sheffieldeagles.com to state as such and that your membership is being given as a donation to the club. This will greatly assist in reclaiming VAT back against your donation, further supporting the club during these precarious times.
Alternatively, you can write via letter to: Sheffield Eagles RLFC, Banners Building, 620 Attercliffe Road, Sheffield, S9 3QS.
Due to staff operating part-time from August as part of the government’s furlough scheme the office will not be open for visitors and the club phone will only be monitored sporadically so request contact is made via email or post.
Along with match tickets and sponsorships, memberships are one of the club’s main sources of income and whilst we would fully honour any refunds or credits this would hamper us moving forward with regards to retention and recruitment but as said above we understand every supporter has different circumstances and will support each of those that require the need to take option one or two.
We would again like to thank all our supportive sponsors, partners and fans for the continued patience and understanding. We are indebted to the kindness shown so far without which we would have been in a perilous position.
Hard work is continuing behind the scenes in relation to the Olympic Legacy Park and other areas and we will bring you much sought-after updates as soon as we have them for you.
Keep healthy, keep safe and we thank you once again for your support.
*Option 1 Example: A supporter purchased an early bird adult 2020 membership for £165. This would be split into three equal monthly refunds of £55 paid in September, October and November 2020.
**Option 2 Example: A supporter purchased an early bird adult 2020 membership for £165. This would be split into three equal ‘credits’ against memberships in 2021, 2022 and 2023 resulting in a discount of £55 per year for the next three years.
