Chairman Chris Noble MBE's Christmas Message
24/12/2020
To all our Supporters, Sponsors & Partners
As Chairman of Sheffield Eagles and on behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank you all for your continued, stellar support in 2020.
It is fair to say this year has been an unprecedented one in so many ways with trials and tribulations for everyone affected in some way by the pandemic we have faced.
The support from our 2020 Members, partners, and sponsors when it became apparent this year’s competition was to cease was exemplary and in the face of such testing times was truly heartening to see.
I cannot stress enough how much your support, through not requesting refunds and continuing to back us as we move at pace towards next season has helped us get through these strange times and look ahead to what should be a much better year in 2021.
We appreciate things are still uncertain regarding our playing venue with talks on-going surrounding the Olympic Legacy Park and with that 2021 Memberships not yet on-sale as we as we had hoped.
Work continues behind the scenes as positive and constructive discussions continue with the powers that be and as soon as we have an update to relay, we will.
However, please be assured that Sheffield Eagles is here to stay and we will continue to press on and outside of the club as 2021 is an exciting time for rugby league in the city.
The World Cup will land at the end of the year and its great to see very strong sales for the game at Bramall Lane and the Wheelchair matches taking place at EIS.
A great deal of work is being done to strengthen and increase our community work in Sheffield to ensure a legacy from the tournament and some exciting developments will be announced in the New Year.
I’d like to welcome Adam Hughes & David Butler as trustees to the Include Foundation and pay my thanks to Richard Fone, Baz Gascoyne and Emma Digby who have departed this year.
My thanks also go to our players and backroom staff. I know Mark and his team have worked hard in putting together an exciting, youthful squad with plenty of depth and I am sure, like me, you cannot wait to see the Eagles back in action once more, wherever that may be.
The players & backroom staff have conducted themselves excellently during a turbulent year and again thank you to them for their understanding – I am told that they have returned to training in fantastic shape which is great to hear.
A huge thanks also to our Directors who behind the scenes have kept the club moving forward and ensured we are in the best position we can be off the field – a lot of what they do is done without much fanfare or attention but is crucial to our operation so thank you to them.
Again, to everyone, thank you. I hope you have a restful and enjoyable Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year when we can do so.
