Betfred Challenge Cup R4: Hunslet CP vs Sheffield Preview

25/02/2022

Sheffield Eagles will be aiming to avoid a Challenge Cup upset on Sunday when they travel to the South Leeds Stadium to face National Conference League side Hunslet Club Parkside.

Sheffield will come into the contest after a week off from Betfred Championship action following the postponement of last week’s fixture away to Batley Bulldogs was postponed.

The Eagles have one win from three in the Championship, victory away at the Bradford Bulls came in-between losses at Barrow Raiders and Dewsbury.

The most recent loss at The Tetley’s Stadium saw Sheffield go down 12-10 to the 12-man Dewsbury side.

Liam Johnson scored for a second consecutive match before Kris Welham touched down for his first score in Eagles colours.

But it was the Rams’ Adam Ryder who sealed victory in the final ten minutes with his converted try.

Hunslet Club Parkside enter the fourth round of the Challenge Cup for the first time in their history after recording an upset in the capital.

Initially, trailing 6-0, the amateurs fought back to secure a 6-28 victory over Betfred League One London Skolars.

Tries from Craig McShane (x2), Jake Dearden, Elliot Morgan and Omar Alrawi completed the impressive victory for the 2018 NCL Champions.

The Old Boys have seen off fellow amateur side Stanningley (22-16) and Featherstone Lions (56-6) in the first two rounds of the competition
