Aston wanting consistency heading into North Wales fixture

11/03/2022

Following a convincing victory over Workington Town, Sheffield Eagles need to keep up similar standards according to Director of Rugby Mark Aston.

The Eagles face North Wales Crusaders at Stadiwm Eirias tomorrow afternoon in the fifth round of the Challenge Cup.

Aston’s men had to fight hard for victory in the previous round, against amateurs Hunslet Club Parkside, but they certainly made amends against Workington in the league.

“These performances are what we have to expect from ourselves,” Aston commented in his post-match interview last weekend.

“It (Eirias) is a great facility that we’ll be playing at and I have watched their last two games, in which they beat Swinton and Hunslet.

“We’ll be treating them with respect, just like we did against Parkside.

"We want to progress, get into the 1895 Cup and the next round of the Challenge Cup where we could draw a big Super League club.

“We can’t drop our standards, we’ve gone hard in training this week and we need to get the job done.

“We need a bit of momentum.

“We had a great win against Workington, we need the same against Crusaders before heading back up to Cumbria, to sunny Whitehaven, for hopefully another performance and result.”
