Sheffield Eagles League Tables

Sheffield Eagles compete in the Co-Operative National League Division One

The top six teams will compete for the end of season play-offs and the right to be crowned National League One Champions, with the bottom two clubs being relegated to National League 2.

Sheffield are playing their second season in National League 1 since the creation of the National Leagues in 2003 after winning promotion during the 2006 season. In 2007 they became the first team to achieve promotion and stay in the league, reaching the play-offs in 6th place.

Sheffield Eagles have been drawn in Group Three of the Northern Rail Cup along with Celtic Crusaders, London Skolars and local rivals Doncaster RLFC.
The 2008 Northern Rail Cup competition commences with a seven group qualifying system, which will kick off on Friday 1st February.

The top two in each groups one to six, along with the 3 best third place finishers will qualify for the knock-out stages of the Northern Rail Cup. The winner of Group 7 will also proceed to the knock out rounds.

Since its inception, the Northern Rail Cup has been won by Huddersfield Giants (2002), Salford City Reds (2003), Leigh Centurions (2004), Hull Kingston Rovers (2005) & Leigh Centurions (2006). The 2007 tournament was won by Widnes Vikings.

The Qualifying Groups are as follows:
 

Group 1 - Halifax, Keighley, Whitehaven, Workington.
Group 2 - Featherstone, Gateshead, York.
Group 3 - Doncaster, Sheffield, London Skolars, Celtic Crusaders.
Group 4 - Oldham, Rochdale, Swinton, Salford.
Group 5 - Hunslet, Batley, Dewsbury.
Group 6 - Blackpool, Leigh, Barrow, Widnes.
Group 7 - Bramley, Warrington Wizards.

Please note teams in Groups 2 and 5 will play inter-group matches in order to play the same number of fixtures as other teams in other groups. To create the inter-group matches, the clubs have been ranked by 2007 League finishing positions and will face the team with the same ranking in the other group.
