Sheffield
Eagles In The Community |
|
|
|
Introduction |
|
Sheffield Eagles have been providing a
diverse and successful community programme for the last four years and
are constantly seeking to expand and improve all areas of our delivery.
Last year the club worked with more than
60 schools, 5 local amateur clubs and
numerous other partners with over 8,000
children taking part in a variety of activities aimed at involving the
local community in all aspects of the club. |

Community Involvement on Matchdays |
|
Our match day experience offers a great day
out for all the family. As well as 80 minutes of action on the field,
there is plenty of other entertainment to be enjoyed.
Local schools regularly take part in rugby
league games/competitions and provide teams of mascots to accompany the
Eagles as they enter the field of play for the Big Game.
Our half time Kick & Catch game gives
youngsters the opportunity to win an autographed rugby ball whilst our
Kukri Kick for Kit Challenge gives children who have taken part in our
kicking master classes the chance to win £200 of Kukri sports kit for
their school.
The Eag-Letts - our cheerleaders provides
an opportunity for girls (and boys) to develop their dancing skills and
regularly perform in front of more than a thousand people. |
 |
| |
|
Ticketing for Schools |
|
The
Eagles provide exclusive ticketing offers to schools taking part in the
clubs community programme to sample the unique match day atmosphere.
These include:
In addition we offer Family Ticket Vouchers to schools and local
groups/organisations for fund -raising purposes. |
|
| |
|
Summer Events & Activities |
|
The
Sheffield Eagles support the community by attending numerous community
events throughout the year (subject to player availability) including
school sports days, prize givings and award ceremonies. Our players are
always happy to sign autographs or undertake the official opening of
events.
As well as running our own Summer Camp coaching programme based at the
Don Valley Stadium, the club also provides coaching support for other
summer schemes such as those run by Sheffield City Council. |
 |
| |
|
Local Amateur Clubs |
|
The
Eagles work closely with local amateur clubs throughout the region to
provide a pathway for elite player development. In recent years this has
seen successes such as Mitchell Stringer develop from local amateur club
Hoyland Vikings, pass through the ranks at Sheffield Eagles to play with London Broncos
and Salford City Reds in the Super League. |
 |
| |
|
Our Partners |
|
Sheffield Eagles would like to acknowledge and thank our existing
Community partners whose support has allowed our development programme
to expand and flourish through the funding of various community
initiatives. |
|
Funding |
|
In
2007 our community programme attracted over £50,000 in grants and
corporate donations to the scheme.
If you are interested in financially
assisting Sheffield Eagles in continuing their work in the community and
local schools, please contact our Development Manager Dean Thomas on 0114 261 0326 or by email at
