London Broncos proved too strong for Sheffield Eagles as the capital club, who sealed their Qualifiers place, won 52-16 at Trailfinders.
Jarrod Sammut and Api Pewhairangi pulled the strings for the Broncos while Ben Hellewell scored four tries as he moved back to centre from the back-row.
The Broncos raced into an 18-0 lead inside 20 minutes thanks to tries from Sammut, Daniel Harrison and Hellewell.
Everything that London did well went through either Sammut or Pewhairangi and that was always to be the case from the first try to the last.
Both looked a few steps ahead of the defence on most occasions and it would have been hard for any team to stop them due to the vein of form they were in.
Sheffield did respond positively to the Broncos’ opening barrage, however, and they cut the deficit to eight points following four pointers from Matty Fozard and Matt James.
Fozard capitalised on a knock-on forced by Menzie Yere, and the hooker was left to apply the downward pressure to the grounded ball.
Fozard was in the thick of the action for Sheffield’s second score of the afternoon as his wonderful inside ball found the oncoming James, who wasn’t going to be stopped.
Being eight points down at the break would have suited Sheffield down to the ground after the Broncos’ early tries but unfortunately for the South Yorkshire side, Pewhairangi crossed on 37 minutes to make it a three score game once again.
In the second half, Hellewell and Eagles half-back Remy Marginet exchanged tries before four scores in the final quarter for London added a lot of gloss to the final scoreline.
Hellewell and Pewhairangi completed their hat-trick and brace respectively before Andy Ackers scythed over for the capital club.
The final say went to Scottish international Hellewell, who crossed once more on an impressive day for the centre.
