Dewsbury Rams ended their regular season campaign with a hard-fought victory against Sheffield Eagles. Despite going down to 12 men on two separate occasions, the Rams defence was superb as they kept the Eagles at bay in the second half.
Sheffield outscored Dewsbury three tries to one in the first half but were only 12-10 up at the break after a Garry Lo brace and a typical short-range Menzie Yere try.
Josh Guzdek scored the Rams' only score of the period while James Glover kicked two goals. Paul Sykes was sin-binned in the 20th minute, meaning he was off the field for Lo's second try of the contest.
In the second half, Lucas Walshaw put Dewsbury back in front before Dom Speakman also crossed to give the hosts a handy advantage.
Jode Sheriffe was sin-binned in the 68th minute but Dewsbury soon wrapped up the game in his absence thanks to Glover.
Remy Marginet registered a late consolation for the Eagles but it proved in vain as the South Yorkshire side were made to pay for a lacklustre second half performance.
