The Sheffield Eagles Academy produced a spirited display at Huddersfield YMCA in going down 72-26 to their West Yorkshire counterparts. The Giants raced into an 18 point lead before the Eagles got their first points of the game through Tino Decaro who finished off a neat passing move, The hosts were then reduced to 12 men when Jordan Higo was sent to the sin bin for a professional foul on Eagles winger John Hale who had made a near length of the field break. Sheffield couldn't take advantage though and Huddersfield accumulated a 32-6 lead. The visitors then got on the scoresheet again through Cory Aston, who provided support for Keiron Cross as he made the break downfield, to touch down under the posts. The Giants added another try on the stroke of half time to make the score 38-12. It was the Giants who started the second half brightest and they built a 58-12 lead before the Eagles fought back into the game. The teams traded tries with Kadeem Williams getting Sheffield's first points of the half from a perfect cut-out ball by Aston. Then Cross grabbed himself a try by scooting from dummy half from just a couple of metres out, before Callum McDonald completed the scoring by crashing over from close range to make the final score 72-26 to the home side.
