Winger Danny Mills can’t wait for the new season and the chance to start scoring tries again.

The first four months of 2010 were wiped out as he recovered from two operations, to repair a hernia and a damaged hand.

Mills forced his way back into the first team but the tries wouldn’t come.

“To be fair I didn’t play my best rugby, I got three tries all season which is not a good return,” he said.

“That was my worst year as a pro. There’s no hiding from that and I have a few things to prove next season - I want to get back to where I know I can be.”

Mills, 28, is one of the fastest wide men in the Championship and would expect to score around 15 tries in a season.

His pairing with centre Menzie Yere on the left side is a potential match winner for the Eagles.

Mills first played for the Eagles in 2003 and after spells at Doncaster and Widnes believes he could finish his career in Sheffield.

“I can see myself finishing here, I’ve got three or four good years left in me,” he said. “I run my own gym in Bradford and that means I can train nearly full-time. Hopefully I can get in good shape for next season and get a few more tries.”

“That’s what wingers do, score tries. I want to help the team get on the front foot but scoring tries is what I want to do as well.”
