Eagles’ stage ‘haka’ for Sheftival
SHEFFIELD Eagles will take to the Don Valley Bowl stage at Sheftival to perform their own take on a haka.
Members of the Eagles’ squad are set to push to one side the music
acts at Sheftival on Saturday August 4 to give their rendition of a
traditional Samoan war dance.
Sheffield Eagles winger Tim Bergin said: “The lads are really looking
forward to getting involved in the festival and getting people involved
in playing rugby league.“We’re particularly excited about the touch
rugby tournament as it’s always satisfying to see locals show the same
enthusiasm when playing the sport as we do.
“I’m not sure I can say we’re looking forward to performing on the
main stage though. The Sheftival organisers might regret asking us
because the lads are not top dancers to say the least!”
Eagles fans can also perfect their rugby kicking skills with a
masterclass from Sheffield Eagles first team coach Mark Aston at
Sheftival.
On Friday Augsut 3, the Eagles’ coach will give pointers to children,
young people and adults selected to take part in a kicking competition
from 5-6pm plus a touch rugby session from 12-4pm and public training
session from 6-7pm.
On Saturday August 4 they will host a touch rugby tournament at Don
Valley Stadium run by the Eagles’ Community Team and featuring some of
the reserve and Academy squads and 100 players.
Whilst those with tickets to the festival will enjoy a weekend of
music, Sheftival’s sporting events will be on show for everyone at the
Don Valley Stadium and the English Institute of Sport Sheffield (EISS)
to enjoy free of charge.
Sheftival tickets are now on sale. Family ticket admits four – day
ticket £40 / weekend £70; Under 18s – day ticket £10 / weekend £15; Over
