Sheffield Eagles produced a convincing 8-58 victory over Leeds based amateurs Oulton Raiders at Belle Vue to secure a place in the 4th round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup.

Quentin Laulu-Togagae set the platform for the victory, running in the visitors' first four tries, but was unable to add to his tally as the tries were shared around in the second half.

Laulu-Togagae's first effort came from the base of the scrum as he danced his way through the Raiders' defence and touched down on the left hand side of the field.  Simon Brown was un-successful with his conversion attempt.

However, un-deterred, Oulton bit back and drew level in some style.  The hosts launched a kick from inside their own half which was hacked on for centre Dan Hardy to race on to and touch down in the corner to spark wild celebrations from the Oulton supporters.

It didn't take Sheffield long to regain the lead though, Oulton coughing up possession 30 metres from their own try line and Laulu Togagae was the beneficiary once more.  Brown added the extra two points.

Alex Rowe came off the bench for the Eagles and broke the defensive line within moments of being introduced, making good yards before offloading to Dominic Brambani who supplied Laulu-Togagae with his hat-trick try.  Brown's conversion made the score 4-16.

Laulu-Togagae's final try was undoubtedly the try of the game.  It was a superb individual effort from the Sheffield full-back as he caught the ball 70 metres away from the try line, dodged his way past the oncoming defenders and sprinted in to the right hand corner to touch down.  The conversion was missed.

The first-half scoring was completed by the returning Dane McDonald.  The Eagles gained good field position from a penalty, and Sam Scott broke the line and offloaded for McDonald to score.  Brown added the extras to send the teams in to the sheds with the score at 4-26.

Nev Morrsion stepped in off the wing to play in the right centre position, but it didn't stop him from continuing his fine, try-scoring form as he completed a sweeping move by registering four points in the right corner.  Brown's inconsistencies with the kicking tee continued as he pushed the conversion wide.

McDonald then notched his second try on his comeback appearance before Oulton managed to get over the line for a second time, leaving the score at 8-34.

Eagles prop Ryan Hepworth was the next player to cross, using all his strength to barge over from close range and touch down close to the posts.  The kicking duties were handed over to Michael Knowles and he goaled to turn four points into six.

The Raiders knocked on in the tackle 30 metres from their own try line, and were punished when Sheffield youngster Sam Scott scored his third try of the campaign to continue his impressive start to the season.  Knowles again converted.

Pat Smith started only his second ever game for the Eagles, and had a big hand in both of the visitors' final two tries.  He scored the first after scooting from 20 metres out to touch down under the posts, and set up the second as Duane Straugheir caught his chipped kick to the corner to complete the scoring.  Michael Knowles added both conversions to give him a 100% record with the boot fot the afternoon.  The score finished Oulton Raiders 8-58 Sheffield Eagles.
